Nahanni National Park, NWT

Canada has yet to reveal all of its secrets of the North. One is Nahanni National Park which encompasses 4766 square kilometres. The park embraces towering mountain peaks, spectacular canyons, hot springs, sinkholes, endless caves including stalagmites and stalactites, sand dunes and badlands. Nahanni is a place where you can find moisture-loving lady slipper orchids growing alongside semi-arid plants such as potentilla. This remote wilderness was the first park to be established as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO (1978), before Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon in the U.S.
